If you’re
new to the concept of security and the services we offer,
some of the terms on our Web site may be unfamiliar to you.
Following is a list of terms and their descriptions to help
clarify their meaning and relationship to security-oriented
services.
Access Controls
An integrated system of electronic door locks and computerized
control hardware that unlock doors based on a preset time
schedule, presence of a valid access card, or entry of a valid
PIN number or other personal verification.
CCTV System
An integrated system of Closed Circuit Television cameras,
recording device(s), and viewing monitor(s) to allow viewing
of events in real-time or playback mode.
Dispatch Center
The portion of our facility where alarm signals are received
and handled to notify the proper authorities, responsible
parties, homeowners, etc. 24 hours a day.
Employee Tracking
Creating and archiving a record of when an employee enters
and exits a business. Various levels of tracking can be achieved
through alarm system monitoring, card access systems, and
CCTV systems.
Environmental Controls
Sensors that detect abnormal conditions in a particular environment
such as high temperature, low temperature, water leakage,
humidity levels, etc. in order to alert proper personnel before
assets in the area are compromised.
Fire Detection
An integrated system of sensors that can detect a fire via
the presence of smoke, rapidly rising temperature, extreme
heat, etc.
Integrated Security Systems
A combination of sensors, control units, and software that
work together to allow the authorized user(s) of the system
to protect lives and property against various threats.
Intrusion Detection
The portion of an Integrated Security System that is designed
to detect an unauthorized entry into a protected area.
Monitoring
The process of receiving and responding to signals that are
generated by detection equipment at protected premises. The
pertinent information is then relayed to the appropriate personnel,
i.e. Police Department, Fire Department, homeowner, business
owner, etc.
Open/Close Reports
The monitoring of each time a security system is armed or
disarmed by a particular person(s). This information can be
used to verify employee time records, business hours, unauthorized
employee entries, etc.
Proximity Card
A card containing specific cardholder information that can
be recognized by an access control card reader whenever the
card is held within the appropriate distance or proximity
to the reader.
U.L. Approved
Certification that a particular product or service has been
inspected by Underwriters Laboratories for proper design,
operation, and reliability.
Verified Time Schedule Events
The monitoring process of matching security system arming
and disarming activity with a customer-defined time schedule
to ensure that a particular area is secured by a specific
time and remains secured until the predefined opening time.
