What is Medical Alert?

Security Central’s Medical Alert is a small, discreet, portable device with an easy-to-push button that connects you to a team of professionals when you need assistance. Our Medical Alerts utilize cellular technology and two-way voice communication for use in your home or on the go. Medical Alert devices are NOT just for emergencies. Most often, when a button is pressed, emergency response is not needed. Our friendly operators are trained to work with our customers to determine what is needed. It may be as simple as reaching out to a loved one or a friend for you.  Of course, if you do need immediate medical assistance, we can quickly notify your local 911 dispatch center.

How do Medical Alerts Work?

If you need help, press the button on the Medical Alert and it alerts our trained operators. Our team is standing by 24/7 to respond to your needs. Using two-way voice technology that is built into each unit, we can interact with you when needed. We’ll then help connect you with friends and family or even 911 based on your situation.  The Medical Alert uses Cellular Network GPS technology to provide your location to our Responders.

When the button is pressed our trained operators will talk with your loved one, determine what type of help is needed, and take action.  Most often, that action is just contacting you or other designated caregivers, but if needed, we will notify their 911 dispatch center.  The Medical Alert uses cellular geolocation technology to show us where your loved one is located when they press their button.  So you no longer need to worry; we are on duty for you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Medical Alert just for medical use?

No, the Alert button can also be used for safety and security purposes.  Realtors, in-home service providers, and other lone-workers can achieve greater personal safety and peace of mind having a Personal Alert button at their fingertips.

Will this work outside my home?

Yes, our Medical Alert devices use cellular technology to allow them to work inside or outside of the home.  (Adequate cellular signal strength is required for the unit to operate properly.)

What happens when I press my button?

After pressing the button, you will be connected to an operator. If the press was accidental, or you were testing, the call is ended and we know the system works. If you need help, our operators are able to contact emergency services or non-emergency contacts such as friends or family. If you are unable to answer, emergency services will be notified. What if I accidentally activate the button?

We actually encourage you to regularly test your Medical Alert by pressing the call button. If you accidentally activate it, you will be contacted by one of our operators. Just let them know that no further assistance is needed.

What if I fall down?

We do have Medical Alert models that can detect a fall. When a fall is detected, the Medical Alert device will proactively signal one of our operators to reach out to you.  If you do not respond, we will contact your designated caregivers.

How do I know when it needs to be charged?

The Medical Alert batteries last approximately 30 days and take about 3 hours to charge. The upgraded model that includes fall detection lasts 1 – 2 weeks per charge. When the battery gets low, the user and those on the contact list will receive a reminder text or an email indicating that it is time to charge the unit.

What cellular carrier does it use?

Belle is certified on the Verizon 4G LTE Network. If you are outside of Verizon’s coverage area the device can use a roaming partner network. In those coverage areas, if the call button is pressed the call will go directly to the local 911 dispatch center.

Is it waterproof?

Our medical alert devices are water-resistant so they can be worn in the shower. They should not be submerged in water.
